President Obama begins national discussion on health care overhaul
President Obama brought together those who are in favor, those who oppose, and those who are skeptical about changing the health care delivery climate in the United States, according to the Associated Press.
During a meeting at the White House — which was dubbed a health care summit — the president said that the “staus quo is the one option that is not on the table.”
What does this mean for health insurance agents and brokers, and those whose livelihood could be affected?

March 5th, 2009 at 6:52 pmIf people still think Obama is going to really listen to business and bi-partisan comments; think again. Obama already has the plan for how he is moving us to universal insurance with costs shared by all who work and all who own a business, no matter how small. Cobra covers unemployed now; Medicaid is extended to all poor and working poor, AND, soon all illegals. All he wants is paper on what minimum health care a plan should cover. He has reduced the Medicare payments so the HMOs are laying off…42 days in office….Obama is doing this and more just as he campaigned.

March 11th, 2009 at 8:45 amThe core of Obama’s idea is a “health insurance exchange.” This is the death of brokers and agents. It suits the liberal idea of “reducing administrative costs” by “cutting out the middleman.” This is all code for replacing producers with a web site and a government call-in center. Yet NAHU continues to be supportive of all this to preserve their “seat at the table”. Maybe they hope to salvage a $25 referral fee for producers. Good luck with that.
