New York People News: Wingerter named president of Univera, other moves at local companies

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Univera Healthcare appointed Arthur Wingerter to the position of president. Among his key responsibilities is the non-profit health plan’s commercial, Medicare and SafetyNet lines of business in the eight-county Western New York region.
Other recent appointments and honors in New York include:
*Assurant, headquartered in New York, N.Y., promoted Robyn H. Price Stonehill to the position of senior vice president for compensation and benefits. Price Stonehill joined the specialty insurance company in 1999 and most recently served as vice president of executive compensation and retirement plans.
*AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co. said Vincent Cohan, David Kahal and Suzanne van Staveren have each been elected to the position of senior vice president at the New York, N.Y.-based life insurance and annuities firm.
*New York, N.Y.-based Willis Group Holdings appointed Peter A. Gilbertson as managing partner and growth leader for Willis HRH in New Jersey. Gilbertson is responsible for the operations of the company’s brokerages in Cranford, Florham Park, Morristown and Mount Laurel, N.J.
*Stephen Libby, brokerage director for M & M Brokerage Services in New York, N.Y., was named chair of the Professional Interest Section Committee for the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Libby will also continue to chair the FSP’s Business & Compensation Planning Section.
*Lawley Insurance of Buffalo, N.Y., has brought in Peter O’Connell to assist in the surety bond field, providing expertise to its construction and business clients across upstate New York, Westchester County and in New Jersey.
*Endwell Antoinette Gadus and Kris Yelverton of the Jim Rollo State Farm Agency in Endwell, N.Y., earned their New York state licenses for property-casualty insurance, commercial lines and personal lines, life, accident and health insurance.
