Pennsylvania insurance commissioner to speak at Reading I-Day April 15

Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario will be the guest speaker at the 48th annual Reading I-Day, scheduled for April 15 at the Inn at Reading-Clarion in Wyomissing, Pa.

Ario is scheduled to speak from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on hot issues within the insurance department affecting insurance professionals.

The daylong event, which offers participants up to four Pennsylvania continuing education credits, is sponsored by the Reading chapters of the National Association of Insurance Women and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, and the Greater Reading Insurance Agents & Associates.

The event begins at 7 a.m. with continental breakfast and a trade show, followed at 8 a.m. by a presentation by Michelle Grossman and Brenda Cordier of Encompass Insurance Claims on insurance fraud and the impact of special investigative units.

At 10:30 a.m., the first part of a two-part discussion on a “carrier’s perspective on survival mode” will occur, featuring representatives of ACE, AIG, Donegal and Travelers.

During lunch, from noon to 1 p.m., the 2009 Chairperson Award and 2009 Insurance Person of the Year Award will be presented.

From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the discussion of carriers and survival mode will continue with a question and answer session.

Participants will have opportunities to win door prizes and visit with vendors at the trade show between most sessions at the hotel, located at 1040 N. Park Road in Wyomissing.
