Jack Houston, special investigations unit manager for the New York Automobile Insurance Plan, will present the keynote luncheon address at the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc.’s 24th annual Long Island Regional Awareness Program. The daylong event will be held Tuesday, April 21, starting at 7 a.m., at Leonard’s of Great Neck, in Great Neck, N.Y.

“We look forward to hear Mr. Houston’s expert perspective on an issue of importance to both agents and consumers on Long Island and throughout the state – insurance fraud,” said Long Island RAP Committee Chair Michael P. Cracco, in a statement. “We are eager to gain his insight on the impacts of this issue and ways agents can fight back.”

Houston will overview the history of this type of fraud, offer tools that are available for agents and detail fraud-fighting efforts at the NYAIP special investigations unit. Following his address, the Long Island RAP Industry Professional of the Year award will be presented to Andrew Meehan, resident vice president of Utica National Insurance Co.

Participants also will have the opportunity to earn continuing-education credits by attending “Who’s covered? Insureds and additional insureds in the CGL,” hosted by Catherine Trischan, from 8 to 9:50 a.m. Approved for 2 New York continuing education credits, participants may learn more about this often confusing issue and avoid a potential errors and omissions claim.
