An Orange County, N.Y., man is accused of fraudulently collecting $11,360 in insurance payments after returning to work following his recovery from an injury.

New York State Police arrested Deron B. Stainback, 48 of Highland Falls, N.Y., on charges of insurance fraud, forgery, identity theft and falsifying business records, according to the New York State Insurance Department.

The department alleges that Stainback recovered from a foot injury and then filed false statements with AFLAC Insurance Co. and forged his boss’s signature on claim forms to continue receiving disability payments after returning to work.

Stainback, released pending a hearing April 2, could be sentenced up to seven years in prison, if convicted.
