Group Insurance Solutions Inc. has launched an educational webinar series designed to provide its clients with increased information about the changing employee-benefit landscape.

The series, hosted by the Sparks, Md.-based firm’s executives, targets employers who are being affected by changing legislation, shifting HR practices, and emerging benefits trends.  Planned for quarterly releases, the first webinar highlighted Maryland’s recently passed Flexible Leave Act.

Greg Mayer, GISI’s executive vice president and chief sales executive, said in a statement that he believes “leveraging technology to disseminate critical information to clients is another way GISI provides value and differentiates itself in the benefits broker community.”

The company has sales operations in Sparks, Salisbury, Frederick and Hagerstown in Maryland, as well as in Northern Virginia and in Morgantown, W.Va.

Upcoming webinar topics include payroll, HRIS and employee benefits integration to yield corporate savings, Maryland’s new benefits legislation for 2009 and HRA/HSA updates.

Later this year, GISI will introduce a second webinar series specifically focused on the large-employer market, which it defines as employers with 100 or more employees. Mark McWright, GISI’s vice president of large market, is scheduled to lead these tailored sessions.

“Our large employers must be nimble when it comes to adapting to legislative and industry changes,” McWright said in a statement. “The only way to enable that adaptability is to provide the information they need with clear directives so that they can focus on their core competencies while we help execute their HR action plans.”

He added, “Changes to an employer’s human resources initiatives affect more than a line or two in their handbooks; they impact our clients’ employment practices, benefits, and bottom-line.”
