Insurance agent among those vying for Greenip’s state senate seat
An insurance agent from Severna Park is among five candidates seeking to fill a vacancy in the Maryland State Senate.

Arthur D. Ebersberger, an agent with CBIZ Insurance Services, Inc., working out of the company’s Severna Park and Columbia, Md., offices is a possible successor to State Sen. Janet Greenip (R-Anne Arundel), who announced May 4 that she would resign her position, effective May 29, to spend more time with her family.
The Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee has 30 days from the announcement to fill the vacancy by submitting a name to Gov. Martin O’Malley to succeed Greenip for the remaining year of her term.
On June 2, five candidates will participate in a public interview and balloting to finalize the name the committee will send to the governor.
Ebersberger has 40 years of experience in insurance and risk management. In 2000, he sold his firm – Ebersberger & Associates – to CBIZ Insurance Services Inc., where he currently serves a senior vice president.
Licensed in Maryland as an advisor and agent with several non-resident licenses in other states. Ebersberger has the designations of Certified Insurance Counselor, Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Counselor.
He is also a member of the Anne Arundel Community College Board of Trusses and serves on the school board nominating commission for the county as well.
Also vying for the vacancy are: Thomas F. Angelis, a Baltimore high school teacher; David G. Boschert, executive director of the Maryland Classified Employees Association and a former state delegate; Anne Arundel County Delegate James J. King, and Anne Arundel County Councilman Edward R. Reilly.
