Deputy Superintendent Brooks takes acting role after Dinallo’s exit
The New York State Insurance Department is now being led by First Deputy Superintendent Kermitt Brooks in an acting capacity.
Brooks was named acting superintendent, replacing Eric Dinallo, who resigned effective July 3. Dinallo, who is rumored to be considering a run for attorney general, announced his resignation in May.
Brooks, who joined the department two years ago, will serve until Gov. David Paterson names him or someone else as the next insurance superintendent.
Prior to his insurance department position, Brooks served on the staff of former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.
