New Jersey insurance company wins recycling contest

Teachers’ Insurance Plan of New Jersey was recognized as the winner in a contest promoting a recycling campaign in New Jersey.

The Red Bank, N.J.-based insurance company, which provides auto insurance exclusively to the active and retired faculty and staff of New Jersey-licensed educational facilities, was named the winner of the business category in “Flip Your Lid,” a contest organized by Clean Ocean Action to recycle plastic bottle tops and raise awareness about pollution.  Its employee base collected 10,500 bottle caps.

People from 200 organizations, businesses, schools, and families collected 2,238,053 bottle caps, according to Teachers’ Insurance.  Charles Street School in Palmyra, N.J., a school that partners with Teachers’ Insurance on their Quotes for Cash campaign, was the grand prize winner of the contest.

Clean Ocean Action is a national and regional group working to protect waterways using science, law, research, education, and citizen action.
