Carpenter nailed on insurance fraud charges in New York

A Frankfort, N.Y., man was arrested on several charges, including insurance fraud, for working as a carpenter while also receiving workers’ compensation benefits.

Frederick J. Heinig, of Herkimer County, N.Y., was arrested for collecting $10,200 in benefits between January and July 2008 after submitting various documents that he was unable to work due to a job-related injury, according to the New York State Insurance Department.

Hening faces charges of insurance fraud, perjury, falsifying business records and violating New York Workers’ Compensation Law. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
