Grange Insurance, which serves 13 states, including Pennsylvania and Virginia, announced it is using a new product from Seattle, Wash.-based NetMotion Wireless to assist staff.

The insurance company, based in Columbus, Ohio, said it is using NetMotion’s Virtual Private Network solution, Mobility XE, to improve the performance of thousands of mobile workers for accessing data and applications.

Grange Insurance offers auto, home, life and business insurance protection through a network of independent insurance agents, with $2 billion in assets and $1.3 billion in annual revenue, according to the company.

“Our mobile claims associates have a number of applications which they rely on for their day-to-day duties,” said Butch Knowlton, manager of claims projects and business analysis for Grange Insurance, in a statement. “Our workers need a stable and reliable environment with constant access to their applications, no matter the location. With NetMotion we are able to ensure our consistent performance – in and out of coverage areas.”

The wireless mobile VPN by NetMotion ensures that Grange Insurance’s employees remain productive while connecting securely to applications, roam seamlessly between multiple wireless networks, and maintain application stability even when moving in and out of wireless coverage areas, according to NetMotion.

“Grange Insurance utilizes a variety of wireless networks to keep their field force connected across multiple states,” said Pam Cory, vice president of marketing for NetMotion Wireless. “With our software, field personnel are able to maintain secure connections, regardless of wireless network conditions, eliminating one major mobile computing challenge for their insurance agents.”

In addition to Pennsylvania and Virginia, Grange Insurance serves policyholders in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
