An Oneida County, N.Y., cable technician is charged with violating the state’s Workers’ Compensation Law after allegedly working as a handyman while collecting benefits.
Amir Tricic, 41, of Utica, N.Y., was arrested following an investigation by the New York State Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau. The investigation revealed that Tricic was employed as a cable technician at a cable manufacturing plant when he was injured, according to the department.
However, while claiming the job-related injury prevented him from working, Tricic worked as a handyman, according to investigators.
Tricic could be sentenced to four years in prison if convicted.
