The Demetriou General Agency in New York has acquired H. Al Roth Agency, based in Manhattan. N.Y., as it continues plans to expand.
“We plan to increase our presence in the New Jersey market and in upstate New York working with carriers to create new and better avenues for brokers’ profitability,” said Michael P. Demetriou, president of the Demetriou General Agency.
John G. Mavroukas, executive vice president at Demetriou, said the company has a reputation of being “aggressive,” which it hopes to build on with more acquisitions of general agencies, along with increasing staff and its broker base.
Demetriou noted that the acquisition of the long-time general agency, brings it closer to the $100 million mark as its expansion continues through acquisitions, consolidation and increased agent and broker activity in the Tri-state area.
“We are delighted to be working with the team of H. Al Roth and to consolidate their enterprise within ours in what will become an increasingly strong facility for our growing number of agents and brokers throughout New York and New Jersey,” Demetriou said in a statement.
He called the H. Al Roth Agency, whose staff moved into his company’s offices Aug. 10, “an ideal part of our strategic growth plans as we go forward.”
Demetriou also is expanding its Madison Avenue headquarters to occupy the full floor at 415 Madison Avenue (between 48th and 49th Streets) to accommodate two additional acquisitions being concluded.
The centralized location will provide for enhanced processing and other activities conducted by the agency, which has more than 600 agents and brokers with whom it works, Mavroukas said.
