A New York insurance agent was appointed to a state task force that combats insurance fraud.

David Dickson has served on the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board (NYCIRB) since last year and was recently chosen for its fraud task force by the AFL-CIO of New York State Inc.

The task force’s goal is to help identify and review fraudulent activity, which leads to higher insurance premiums and is responsible for 10% of property/casualty industry’s losses, the equivalent of about $30 billion, according to the Professional Insurance Agents of New York (PIANY).

Dickinson has worked in the insurance industry for more than 35 years and is an insurance agent for independent agency Bailey, Haskell and LaLonde based in Oneida, N.Y. He was president of PIANY in 2006 and 2007, was an industry consultant on privacy and regulatory issues and co-authored insurance laws in multiple states.
