Holtz installed as new CPCU Society president, chairman
Douglas J. Holtz, a commercial underwriting consultant with Liberty Mutual Agency Markets in Carmel, Ind., was officially installed as president and chairman of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society for 2009-2010.

Holtz’s installation, along with other officers and directors, took place Aug. 31 at the organization’s annual meeting in Denver, Colo. The CPCU Society is composed of nearly 28,000 members who hold the CPCU designation.
Holtz has also served the society as a governor and a member of the Executive and Audit committees and is a past president of the society’s Central Indiana chapter. He succeeds Marvin Kelly, executive director of Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association in Austin, Texas, as president and chairman.
Kelly will serve as immediate past president and chairman of the organization.
In addition, the following officers were also installed: Warren L. Farrar, an assistant vice president for claims for State Farm in Bloomington, Ill., as president-elect; Steve McElhiney, president of EWI Risk Services Inc, based in Dallas, Texas, as vice president; and Brian Savko, a team manager in State Farm’s Murfreesboro, Tenn. Office, as secretary/treasurer.
Four newly elected directors also joined the Society’s Board: U.K. “Rick” Becker, director of sales operations for the Northeastern States Operation of Nationwide Insurance Company; David O. Bisbee, a senior partner of Experiential Partners in Dover, Ohio; Eli E. Shupe Jr., underwriting director in the commercial lines department of The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Fairfield, Ohio; and Thomas E. Woods, assistant vice president of USAA in San Antonio, Texas.
F. Scott Addis, president and CEO of The Addis Group in King of Prussia, Pa., will also serve a one-year term as society at-large director.
