A Louisiana agent and his agency were issued a cease and desist order by the state’s insurance department and had their licenses suspended, amid 12 counts of alleged misappropriation of premiums.

Robert Joseph Boudreaux, 67, and B&M Insurance Agency, both of Thibodaux, La., also received a fine notice of $5,500, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance.

The department said Boudreaux is alleged to have collected $6,821 in premiums from 11 insurance customers that he did not remit to their insurance companies.

Boudreaux’s life, accident, health, vehicle physical damage and property-casualty licenses were suspended Sept. 4, as were the vehicle physical damage and property-casualty license of B&M Insurance Agency. The licenses will be permanently revoked in 30 days from that date unless the department receives a hearing request from the agent.
