Unlicensed agent must pay Pa. agency $19,000, surrenders his license
A New Jersey man who while working for a Jenkintown, Pa., agency incorrectly represented that he was appointed with a carrier has surrendered his Pennsylvania insurance agent’s license.
Thomas M. Greenjack, who lives in Williamstown, N.J. and worked at Lincoln Investment Planning Inc. of Jenkintown, Pa., surrendered his license in June, according to Pennsylvania Insurance Department records.
Greenjack, who was terminated from his job in January, also was ordered to pay $19,100.26 in restitution to Lincoln Investment Planning for commission payments he wrongly collected between Oct. 20, 2008 and Dec. 18, 2008.
During that time, Greenjack “on different occasions asserted to insured, and to a subordinate sales representative” that he was appointed with Great American Life Insurance Co., records show. But he was not.
Applications were submitted to the carrier with his name on them, causing contracts to be resubmitted with the name of the subordinate, who was properly appointed, records indicate.
Four times Greenjack signed for the subordinate on applications to Great American because he knew he was not properly appointed, records show.
When he spoke with investigators in April, he said he would voluntarily surrender his agent license because he “no longer wants to remain in the business,” according to case files.
