Two Louisiana agents fined, have licenses suspended for alleged fraud
A pair of Denham Springs, La., insurance agents face the permanent loss of their licenses and will pay a combined $7,750 in fines after regulators found they wrote fraudulent insurance policies to obtain the commissions.
Christine Touchet, 37, received a cease and desist order Sept. 16, a summary suspension notice and must pay a $4,000 fine, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Jordan Touchet, 19, also received a cease and desist order and summary suspension notice and must pay a $3,750 fine.
The department did not indicate whether the pair were related.
Christine Touchet allegedly wrote 16 insurance applications for individuals without their consent, receiving $3,089 in commissions, while Jordan Touchet wrote 15 applications without individuals’ consent, receiving $1,525 in commissions.
Jordan Touchet received an accident and health license in the state in August 2008 and Christine Touchet received her life, accident and health license in May 2008.
Both licenses will be permanently revoked Oct. 16, unless the department receives requests for hearings.
