An insurance agent for a life/disability/health insurance carrier has been accused of stalking and making secret videos of a female ESPN reporter and trying to sell the videos to a television celebrity gossip show, according to the Associated Press.

Besides videos of Erin Andrews, the suspect allegedly had “indelicate” videos of other women on his computer.

While the suspect may have been regarded as a steady worker by his employer, Combined Insurance Co., and has been said to have a strong network of friends in the community, his alleged actions nonetheless are a black eye to our industry. His employer doesn’t need such stress from actions outside of their realm of business; this is the last thing they need.

Insurance salespeople are a slice of what is good about America: upstanding, honest people who work hard and care about their neighbors. Actions such as what the suspect is accused add nothing to what is otherwise a respectable industry.
