New Jersey Allstate agents, baseball team ‘strike out’ homelessness
Representatives of Bridgewater, N.J.-based Allstate New Jersey Insurance Co. recently teamed up with a minor league baseball team to help fight homelessness in the community.
Allstate agents and members of the Somerset Patriots in presenting a check for $8,660 to Homefirst Interfaith Housing and Family Services to aid Plainfield, N.J., and other local communities, according to the Somerset (N.J.) Reporter.
The donation culminated the “Strike Out Homelessness” campaign, where for every Patriots pitcher strikeout, the insurance company donated $10 through its agents. Participating Allstate agents were Chetan Wattamwar of Franklin Township, David Basile of Middlesex, Wayne Douglas of Piscataway and Nelson C. Espeland of Scotch Plains, according to the report.
“I would like to thank the Somerset Patriots and our conscientious Allstate New Jersey agents for making this community sponsorship – now in its second year – possible,” said William P. Ballinger, president of Allstate New Jersey. “When it comes to being community-minded, giving back to the community has always been a part of Allstate’s DNA for 75 plus years. It’s not just about selling products. We think that it is crucial for corporations to take an active interest in the communities they serve. And at Allstate, we believe that business is a part of society — not apart from society.”
