Obama creates health reform ‘photo-op’ with phony doctor gathering
A recent story on IFAwebnews.com that noted the gathering of 150 “doctors” for a Rose Garden meeting on Oct. 5 told only part of the story.
Yeah, the folks there who were singing the praises of health care reform being debated by Congress and promoted by President Obama were real doctors. But what later came out was that the doctors were not just the family doctors down the street; no, these were political activists known as ”Doctors for America,” which until late last year had an even more political moniker, “Doctors for Obama.”
And to make it even more sticky, the newly named Doctors for America has close ties to “Organizing for America,” which — surprise, surprise! — is President Obama’s election committee. Read further on the Obama campaign site, and it states that it is “a Project of the Democratic National Committee.”
Oops! The New York Times was duped by this publicity stunt, and later had to add a disclaimer to a story detailing the actual connection between the doctors in attendance and the political organization that worked with the Obama Administration to set up the event. The Times did eventually own up to their being duped (well, sort of), even if they still spun it (hey, it took them four days to report that Van Jones, the president’s “green czar,” had resigned after it had been found that he believed the attacks on 9/11 were set up by the government, and after calling republicans a bunch of “a–holes.”) The Washington Post never corrected the error or pointed out the “obfuscation” perpetrated by the White House, but the Wall Street Journal did call them on it.
Doctors for America makes no bones about it; they were the group that sent the doctors to this event staged specifically for the media. Their own press release says so.
(Lest anyone not think that there are thousands of doctors against the Obama-push for a government health care system, there is at least one organization — though not as loved by the media and the White House or so well-funded by the Democrats — that does not support the president’s goals: Take Back Medicine.)
And is it any wonder that Doctors for America is closely allied with the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a far-left liberal group that counts Sen. Max Baucus as one of its closest friends. Heck, he even hooked up with the Center to announce that Doctors for America was launching. How nice.
And since we are talking about the connection between the Obama campaign and this “unbiased” doctors group, is it worthy to mention that a blog posting on the Obama campaign website describes the CIGNA health insurance company as a “murder by spreadsheet factory” and discusses the “predatory and criminal insurance industry?”
Doesn’t sound at all like there are any political motivations or connections that seek to diminish the role of insurance carriers, agents or brokers, does it?

October 7th, 2009 at 2:39 pmSo not only are they real doctors, but they care enough to get active and involved in the debate?
How dare they.
The doctors didn’t only represent DFA. They also represented the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, American College of Pediatrics, and American College of Cardiology.
This was no secret. The President addressed it in his remarks. If you want to start talking about connections, we could discuss FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity, Koch Industries, United Healthcare et cetera
