Insurance First, located in Urbana, Md., recently received the F.W. Hirt Quality Agency Award from Erie Insurance Group.

The award is given annually to the qualifying agency that best exemplifies the attributes Erie Insurance looks for in a quality agency, according to the Erie, Pa.-based company. Some of the criteria for winning the award include attitude, tenure, cooperation, volume, re-underwriting, continuing education and profitability.

The award is named in honor of the late Erie Insurance chairman and CEO.

Insurance First has been serving the community for more than 50 years as an Erie Insurance affiliate. The office is overseen by current principal Mitch Babashan, who took over ownership of the agency in 1994.
