NIPR expands filing tools to include ‘reporting of actions’
Agents and brokers can now access a new function of the National Insurance Producer Registry to report actions against them to jurisdictions across the United States.
The NIPR, a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, announced that the new offering is now available through the online tool’s Attachments Warehouse. The NIPR bills itself as a “one stop shopping” facility for all electronic producer licensing transactions.

Linda Hall
Linda Hall, NIPR board of directors president, said the new “Reporting of Actions” (ROA) function “allows producers to satisfy more regulatory reporting requirements while making it easier and less expensive for producers to submit important licensing requests.
“The expanded abilities of the Attachments Warehouse benefits both producers and regulators alike by streamlining the licensing process,” Hall, who is also director of the Alaska Insurance Department, said in a statement.
The ROA function expands electronic filing abilities allowing agents and brokers to submit necessary documents for reporting administrative, criminal or civil action, information they are required to report within 30 days to meet licensing requirements.
The information is stored in the NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse, a secure database that electronically receives, stores and shares application, renewal and background information requested by regulators across the U.S.
Currently, the system’s producer database includes information from all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The only jurisdictions not participating in the database are Guam, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands.
“The Attachments Warehouse creates uniformity and an enhanced system for filing for the entire insurance industry,” said Hall. “The more participants who use the tool, the closer the industry will be to having a central mechanism for handling licensing and regulatory needs. The system will be most advantageous once all jurisdictions are signed on.”
The NIPR is planning several webinars to assist and train state regulators on how to use the new ROA function.
