The District of Columbia’s acting commissioner of insurance, Gennet Purcell, got it right when she warned insurers not to use information about domestic violence in their underwriting decisions, according to IFAwebnews.com.

While D.C. law does not specifically forbid it, her office issued a bulletin stating that other statutes would surely cover such action.

Those who are victims don’t need to be victimized twice, she said. I couldn’t agree more.

    Absolutely. You would have to be heartless to do it once, let alone doing it twice to someone. Law or no law, this can’t be acceptable.
