“Frequent moves and changes in deployment status create a unique situation for members of the armed services when it comes to insurance,” said Virginia Insurance Commissioner Alfred W. Gross in a statement. “By staying on top of their insurance options, military personnel can make sure that they have the right coverage for any situation, whether they are in Afghanistan, Iraq, or Virginia.”
The BOI is referring members of the military to access the consumer education website of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners – www.InsureUonline.org – to learn more about the special circumstances military personnel should take into account when shopping for coverage.
The site features information on auto, home, health and life insurance with a specific page for members of the military.
