AIG Agency Auto’s new owner halting New Jersey independent agent sales

Farmers Insurance Group, with its acquisition of 21st Century Insurance and Financial Services from American International Group, is going to stop accepting new auto and flood policies from independent insurance agents in New Jersey through its newly acquired AIG Agency Auto unit.

car-tireIndependent insurance agents in New Jersey who want to work with Farmers can represent its Foremost Insurance Group products, according to the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New Jersey, a trade group.

Existing business with AIG Auto Agency will continue until further notice, according to the report.

Farmers has already stopped accepting new business from independents through AIG Agency Auto in other states, according to the IIABNJ.
