Maryland-based executive to lead national property-casualty association
Janice M. Abraham, president and chief executive officer of Chevy Chase, Md.-based United Educators Insurance, was elected as the new chairwoman of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America.

Abraham, along with two other professionals, were elected to head the organization, comprised of more than 1,000 member companies, at its annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 28.
Since 1998, Abraham has served as president and CEO for United Educators Insurance, a company owned and governed by more than 1,160 member colleges, universities and other academic institutions throughout the United States. She is also president and CEO of the United Educators Management Company.
Abraham has more than 15 years of experience in serving in higher education through her work as chief financial officer/treasurer at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., as well as senior positions at Cornell University and the National Association of College and University Business Officers, serving as a staff associate.
She is also a past member of the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the National Risk Retention Association.
PCI also named Robert DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Lincoln, R.I.-based Amica Mutual Insurance Co., as its first vice chair and Donald Southwell, president and CEO of Unitrin, Inc., based in Chicago, Ill., as second vice chair.
