Longtime employee Zinno named head of GEICO Insurance Agency
Thirty-six years ago, John Zinno joined GEICO as a management trainee and now he is running the company’s personal lines insurance agency.

Zinno was selected by GEICO’s board of directors as a vice president of the company and the president of GEICO Insurance Agency, with offices in Fredericksburg, Va., and Buffalo, N.Y. Zinno previously served as an assistant vice president.
A company subsidiary, GEICO Insurance Agency provides non-automobile property insurance products to customers including homeowners, renters, boat, motor sport and other coverages.
Bill Roberts, GEICO’s executive vice president, said under Zinno’s guidance, GEICO Insurance Agency “has grown and become a significant component in GEICO’s efforts to provide our customers with a wide variety of products.
“We know he’ll continue to deliver excellent results in his new assignment,” Roberts said in a statement.
In 1973, Zinno joined the Woodbury, N.Y., office of GEICO as a management trainee, later named director of sales and service for the Fredericksburg, Va., office, and went on to serve as assistant vice president of GEICO’s centralized services in Macon, Ga.
He was later named president of GEICO’s Safe Driver Motor Club and from 2004 to 2006, Zinno served as assistant vice president and general manager of GEICO’s regional operations in the Buffalo, N.Y., office.
GEICO, a part of Berkshire Hathaway, provides auto insurance coverage to 9 million policyholders and insures more than 16 million vehicles nationwide.
