Martin Kurtz, a certified financial planner and president of The Planning Center in Moline, Ill., was named president-elect of the Financial Planning Association for 2010.

Kurtz is in line to succeed the FPA’s 2010 president, Tom L. Potts, beginning Jan. 1, 2011, the Denver-based organization announced.
Kurtz has been an FPA member for 15 years and has served on the FPA of Quad Cities board of directors as well as the 2007 and 2008 FPA Retreat task forces. Additionally, Kurtz was chair of the Board of Professional Review for Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board), and a board member of Money Quotient.
Kurtz also held various leadership positions in his local community, including charter president of Cedar Falls Optimist Club, and board member of Mason City Optimist Club and the Ballet Quad Cities.
