While we await for the compromise plan that Sen. Harry Reid has sent for Congressional Budget Office review, some of its major portions are becoming known to the public. (click here for story)

Polls show that many aspects of the plan remain unattractive to most Americans, but one part is particularly disturbing.

It calls for allowing Americans age 55 to buy into the Medicare program.

That sounds like a good idea. Let’s expand the Medicare and Medicaid programs that are already going bankrupt and are on life-support with their current covered populations. Not to mention the billions of dollars in fraud and waste inherent in both.

On the same morning that it was reported that Medicare might be opened to millions more as part of health care “reform,” the Baltimore Sun ran a story describing how the state of Maryland is nearly $100 million in the hole because of a poorly managed Medicaid system. Problems include the government not filing timely claims, an antiquated reporting system, and fraud that has for years paid for services for deceased individuals. (click here for story)

The best the Senate can come up with is to expand and bloat a system that is already broken and bleeding.

Finally, part of the compromise would create a health care plan available to all Americans that the Senate says would mirror the Cadillac, gold-standard health care plan that is provided free of charge to all members of Congress

If you believe that, I have a $315 million bridge-to-nowhere in Alaska that I would like to sell you.

Instead of the senate trying to convince us that we would be getting the same healthcare as them, why dont they join us in the reform and join our soon to be horrible healthcare. i guarantee if they were covered under the reform bill, they would have never let it get to the senate floor. All of Washington DC should be drug tested, or at least be audited so we can find out how all of these thiefs became millionaires over a couple of years when their salaries are rather modest in comparison.
