A Queens woman is accused of submitted more than 50 fraudulent insurance claims and collected $3,800 from CIGNA.
The arrest of Regine Leconte, 33, resulted from an investigation revealing that she allegedly was forging invoices and submitting claims to CIGNA for treatments she never received, according to the New York State Insurance Department. The invoices were allegedly forged to mimic genuine ones already submitted and faxed to CIGNA to collect a payment, according to a statement from the insurance department.
Laconte was charged with grand larceny, forgery and insurance fraud after an investigation led by the New York State Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau.
If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison.
