A breath of fresh air in Yorktown, NY, a small town of about 37,000 an hour north of New York City.

The local government realized a savings of more than a quarter million dollars for its liability, property, umbrella and other coverages, and, against the wishes of some on the town board, voted to pass the savings along to taxpayers in the form of a tax break, according to an article on IFAwebnews.com. In spite of the shenanigans from some Scrooges in Washington right now regarding health insurance reform, it’s good to see that there are some towns that remind us Bedford Falls, from the old black-and-white Jimmy Stewart movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
