Hannover Life Reassurance Co. of America, which provides reinsurance for life and health insurance companies, said it has been approved as an accredited reinsurer in New York.

The approval of Hannover Life Re to write policies in New York means the company now has the authority to transact business in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The approval was effective Nov. 24, according to a statement released Dec. 7.

Orlando, Fla.-based Hannover Life Re is the North American life and health reinsurance subsidiary of Hannover Re Group.
