Empire, Zagat team up to gather physician experience data from consumers

Empire BlueCross BlueShield is making the Zagat Health Survey Tool available to its members to share their physician experiences with one another.

stethBy logging into the secure MyHealth Record member portal at Empire’s website, consumers can access the Zagat survey, enabling them to review their experiences with their physicians based on a set of distinct criteria, including availability, environment, communication and trust. The criteria are designed to reflect a consumer’s experience interacting with a physician and the physician’s office and not to reflect the quality of care received, according to Empire.

Members are also asked whether they would recommend their doctor to others and can enter comments to explain their ratings.

“Empire uses direct member feedback extensively to gauge customer preference and drive new benefit products or changes in our service methodology,” said Mark Wagar, president and CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield, in a statement. “This unique collaboration between two well-known New York brands will provide helpful information not only to our members but also can be a source of constructive feedback for a physician’s office.”

Empire, an affiliate of WellPoint Inc., serves residents and businesses in the 28 eastern and southeastern counties of New York State.
