Michigan-based Foremost Insurance Group plans to expand its dwelling fire program in New Jersey, as of Jan. 10.

The property-casualty and commercial insurance provider recently expanded the program in Nebraska, Tennessee, Montana and Washington state.

Foremost said in a statement it is enhancing its landlord and owner-occupied property solutions to include standard and preferred business. It will now accept coverage on homes with open foundations, customers with up to five losses and multiple dwellings on premises.

“We have the broadest appetite in the marketplace and we specialize in this business,” Andy Thomas, a Foremost executive director, said in a statement. “Our pricing, product and claims processes are all focused on providing the most competitive and valuable product for policyholders and agents.”

Some of the changes to the dwelling fire program include possible discounts for customers with newer homes and financial responsibility scores now being applied to rental business for new business only. Other groups that could receive a discount, according to Foremost, are owners using a property management company, landlord association members, owners without prior claims, and customers with more than one property insured with the company.

Foremost, a member of the Farmers Insurance Group of Cos., was founded in 1952 and covers over two million policyholders nationwide.
