In a victory speech after his Democrat opponent conceded, Republican Senator-elect Scott Brown said that the voters of Massachusetts spoke for the rest of America in its repudiation of Congress’s attempt to wrest control of one-sixth of the U.S. economy through health care “reform.”
(Brown’s entire 20-minute speech is posted in the video below, and was very well delivered and hit many points outside of health care reform and, frankly, sounded a lot like a presidential campaign speech.)
Already, Democrats have lost governorships in Virginia and New Jersey, and now the seat held for decades by Ted Kennedy has been handed to a Republican in a show of distaste and distrust by Massachusetts voters.
The question remaining, however, is this: Is Congress paying attention?
The House can still pass an unaltered version of the Senate health care bill, thus avoiding another vote in the Senate. Or, Congress can still vote on legislation before Mr. Brown is seated, which might prompt a legal battle.
On election day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still vowed that no matter what, she was going to ensure that some version of health care reform passes.
If her only options include a potential illegal move, or a move that could signal a virtual routing of the Democrat party in the upcoming 2010 elections, will she still proceed with her threats?
It almost seems worthwhile to hope that the Congress does in fact go against the will of the people, if only to see the fireworks that would surely ensue.

Furious Says:
January 20th, 2010 at 1:13 amNancy (the Lizard) Pelosi has never listened to ANYBODY in her life. Oh wait, she listened the day her Democratic coleges declared her the greatest speaker EVER. Grinned so hard, I’m certain she wee’d herself. Only time she had that pig peeing grin as intense was the day she was asked about “che” Obama’s election promises. (“a lot of things were said during the election”) like – were you stupid enough to actually believe that?? (oh boy, a Democrat!)
Why would you even contemplate that she is smart enough to “pay attention”. After 3 successive rebukes from the electorate, she has still not realised (like the “Anointed” one in the White House) that the jig is up!!!! They just can’t figure out why their lies and deceit doesn’t work anymore. Anybody boo boo’s, and they learn. Do it again and you are stupid. These imbeciles have screwed up 3 times, and they still don’t get it. Don’t count on a sudden burst of intellect from ANY of them.
Crash or crash through. Trouble is in the process of destroying themselves, they are taking us along with them. Is it too much to hope that a rogue cyclone can find Washington.
Stop giving these people the benefit of doubt. Stop according them the respect of their offices (especially the President). these morons have so demeaned their offices, that the stench will not be removed for a generation. Treat them with the same contempt that they treat the citizenry.
