Utah’s legislature is preparing legislation that would require private health insurers to continue coverage of prisoners, if the convicted individual had coverage prior to incarceration, according to a local paper.
The sponsor of the bill said that rather than stick taxpayers with the bill for a prisoner’s health care, insurance companies should pay for the care.
