USI Insurance names new top executive for three offices in Virginia
USI Insurance Services has appointed Christopher G. Burns as the president and chief executive officer of three of its Virginia locations.
Burns will oversee the Norfolk, Newport News and Exmore, Va., offices and will report to Steven C. Deal, regional CEO of the USI Mid Atlantic Region. Burns will work out of the Norfolk office.
Burns told IFAwebnews.com he is “extremely excited” about the opportunity to work with USI, citing the “combined talent and resources” of the firm.
“We have some of the best and brightest in the industry,” he said.
Through its offices in 18 states, USI offers general and specialty property-casualty insurance and financial services such as employee benefits outsourcing and related consulting.
“We are a part of a refresh process throughout USI both locally and nationally,” Burns said. “With that, there is a focused and entrepreneurial spirit that to some degree is missing in the agent and broker side. We have a dedicated staff with a complete focus on client services. Aside from our resources and the growth of our employee base, USI will certainly be a strong leader in insurance.”
A resident of Virginia Beach, Va., Burns formerly served as executive vice president and general manager for Brown & Brown Flagship of Norfolk, Va., since 2005, overseeing a $5 million plus revenue insurance office. His responsibilities included management team review, budgeting, new business production and recruiting, according to USI.
Prior to joining Brown & Brown, Burns was a sales executive with the Flagship Group Ltd. from 2001 to 2005.
