NAHU responds to State of the Union health reform fallacies
The National Association of Health Underwriters, which represents health insurance agents across the nation — took some exception to remarks made by President Obama in his State of the Union address.
The group said it appreciated that he acknowledged that the current reform bills before Congress lack public approval and that bi-partisan work should replace the current atmosphere in Congress.
However, NAHU contended that the free market, and not the government, is the best avenue to work through and implement reform. This is a direct contradiction to the president’s assertions otherwise.
In a statement, it said: “NAHU believes competitive market forces will have the greatest positive impact on the cost of health care. Our private health insurance market is innovative, flexible and efficient, and, most important, up to the task of responding to well-structured reforms.”
