A Little Falls, N.Y., firefighter faces up to four years in prison after regulators claim he fabricated an insurance claim to pay for construction at his home.

Christopher Hendrie, 36, was arrested after allegedly filing a phony damage claim through his homeowners’ policy with Allstate Insurance Co., according to the New York State Insurance Department.

Department investigators said Hendrie filed the claim in June 2009, telling Allstate that heavy rains caused the collapse of a retaining wall in front of his home. An investigation found that Hendrie had a contractor replace an existing wall with a new one, at a cost of $8,000, prior to filing the insurance claims, according to regulators.

He is accused of filing the claim to pay the contractor after being turned down for a loan to finance the project, according to investigators.
