Rochester woman gets weekends in jail for auto insurance fraud
A Rochester, N.Y., woman will spend 10 weekends in jail, five years on probation and must pay $500 in restitution for pleading guilty to burning her car for insurance money.
Lakisha Cribb, 32, was sentenced Feb. 16 in Monroe County Court after pleading guilty in December 2009 to third-degree insurance fraud, according to the New York State Insurance Department.
Cribb was arrested following an investigation by the NYSID’s Frauds Bureau and the Rochester Police Department. She admitted to reporting to police that her Dodge Stratus was stolen in 2005 after she burned the car in order to obtain $12,700 from her insurer.
That claim was never paid, according to officials.
