SubroShare data-reporting tool aids legal release of health data
SubroShare introduced a new data-reporting program, connecting health-plan participants and attorney third-party liability (TPL) involvement to the health provider.
The Richmond, Va.-based company said its product, delivered through a web-based data repository, securely stores and exchanges legal release of information from the provider to the payer. It is an add-on to a payer’s existing software and outsourced vendors, to greatly improve on identifying those TPL situations, which would have gone missed, according to the company.
Health providers, either from a payer-based or contracted outsourced PPO network, can securely submit HIPAA compliant data to SubroShare, which then becomes available to TPAs, other health payer and self-insured plans, according to the company.
“For fifteen years, I helped injured patients through chiropractic care,” said Stephen Ambrose, SubroShare’s executive director, in a statement. “During that time, I received numerous attorney requests for patient records, never realizing the private exchange surrounding injury claims, settlements and a resulting lack of transparency to payers. The key to identifying these situations is not in guessing correctly or depending on returned form letters, but by utilizing ROI data, submitted by contracted providers. This is where transparency is key.”
