The Virginia State Corporation Commission Bureau of Insurance has announced that insurance companies and producers can now print licenses online.
In a statement March 15, the BOI said that the implementation of this process “has been the most frequently requested service enhancement” by both groups since it implemented the Sircon technology system to increase its online services.
Effective immediately, the BOI will no longer mail licenses as it used to when it issued them. Electric applications for licensure are submitted to the BOI through either Sircon’s Compliance Express (CX) or the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).
For applications submitted through CX, Sircon send and email notification to the producer when the license is issued that can then be printed online. This service is free for up to 30 days after the license application submitted through CX has been approved. After the 30-day period, the licenses or duplicate copies can be printed for a $5.50 service fee.
Applications submitted through the NIPR do not receive an email notification when a license is issued. Producers may check their licensing status through the BOI’s “Producer Lookup” feature.
When the license status indicates that one has been issued, the producer can then print the license at the Sircon Virginia site for a $5.50 service fee.
The BOI is encouraging all producers to review licensing information now posted online at its website.
