Workers want guaranteed lifetime income in retirement, study finds
Nearly half of all workers want a guaranteed income for life in whatever retirement plan they choose, a new study finds.
The study, the Employee Benefit Research Institute’s 2010 Retirement Confidence Survey, found good reason for the desire, given that nearly three in 10 workers have less than $1,000 in savings.
Exactly 46% of workers indicated that they were either very likely, or somewhat likely, to turn to a guaranteed income product, while another 14% of retirees have already turned to these guaranteed products to provide income throughout their golden years.
