La. agent has license suspended over alleged failure to remit premiums
A Baton Rouge, La., agent has 30 days to make his case regarding allegations of failing to remit premiums or face the loss of his license.
David Mark Lehman, 55, was served April 8 with a cease and desist order, license revocation and notice of a $2,500 fine for alleged misappropriation, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance. He has 30 days to request a hearing to contest the action.
In the meantime, his life, health and accident license, issued in September 1988, was suspended by regulators.
The department said Lehman allegedly failed to timely remit $11,542 in premiums to the life insurance company that employs him. Lehman has paid back a portion of the balance of the premium, but still owes his employer $2,171.
