Insurance agent fined $1,000 for mishandling of PAARP applications
A Woodlyn, Pa., insurance agent was put on 10 years of license supervision and ordered to pay a $1,00 fine for violating state law and rules for handling Pennsylvania Assigned Risk Plan (PAARP) applications.
Stephen K. Miller, certified since August 2007 to write PAARP applications, submitted 45 agency checks to PAARP for plan applicants in violation of plan rules, and on several occasions, he accepted cash from PAARP participants in violation of plan rules, Pennsylvania Insurance Department records indicate.
He also was found to have charged applicants a “fee” for the placement of insurance, which violates state law, records show.
