A registered principal from Dix Hills, N.Y., was fined $10,000 by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for engaging in outside activities without notifying his member firm.

Christopher John Looney also was suspended from associating with any FINRA members for 10 days, ending July 19, FINRA records show.

FINRA investigators found that Looney did not provide notice, in writing or verbally, to his member firm of his outside activities, which were not identified in the FINRA statement.

Looney neither admitted nor denied the allegations.
