Luxury items stolen by Wash. financial planner put up for auction
An array of expensive items, obtained by Kirkland, Wash., financial planner, now serving six years in federal prison for stealing those items from clients, were put on auction this week.
Rhonda Breard had six snowmobiles – all bought within the past two years –- along with four all-terrain vehicles, three Jet Skis, a muscle car and a trailer to cart them, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Breard pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud in connection with defrauding 47 victims of about $11 million, according to federal authorities, cited by the newspaper. She also turned over a total of $250,000 to federal authorities, as well as all of her other assets, but they did not collectively reach the total necessary to repay her victims, the newspaper reported.
A surprise audit performed by ING Financial Partners uncovered the fraud, according to the paper.
