The New Jersey insurance commissioner will lead the zone, which includes the states of Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, as well as Washington, D.C.

In this post, Considine assumes a leadership role in the NAIC’s Northeast region, which deals with insurance policy and regulatory issues in that part of the country. Additionally, the NAIC Executive Committee serves as the leadership body of the organization, so Considine assumes a leadership role on national issues as well.

“I’m honored that the NAIC has entrusted me with these leadership positions,” said Considine in a statement. “There are many pressing and important issues facing state insurance regulators today, among them rising health insurance costs, coordination of states’ market regulation, implementation of federal financial reform, as well as the lingering economic stagnation and the effect it has had on the companies we regulate and the consumers they serve. There is much to be done and I’m proud to be working with my colleagues at the NAIC on all of these vital issues.”
