A Raleigh, N.C., woman was arrested and charged with one count of insurance fraud for allegedly making a false claim to Nationwide Insurance two years ago.

Nadine Outlaw Williams, 38, allegedly told the insurance company on Feb. 12, 2009, that her 2006 Ford Expedition had been stolen from the driveway of her home. She also filed a stolen vehicle report with the Raleigh Police Department, according to the North Carolina Insurance Department.

As a result, Nationwide Insurance paid Sovereign Bank a total of $15,830.03 for the vehicle, officials said.

Insurance department investigators say Williams gave the Expedition to a family friend with the agreement that he would make the monthly payments on the vehicle.

Williams was placed under a $3,000 secured bond.
